Scotland and northern England. Scotch Pine is a popular Christmas
tree for its natural pyramidal shape when young. |

Foliage: Needles are two to three inches long, in
bundles of two,
turning yellowish green in winter
Fruit: gray, egg-shaped cones to two inches long
Soil: well drained, sandy, soil, does best in acidic
conditions

Problems: pine sawfly, winter browning, stressed
by hot and dry summers
Comments: Variety “French Blue” keeps
blue color of needles in
winter, other varieties include weeping and dwarf forms; foliage sparse
at maturity.
